A 21st Century Knight
~The Knight~
I am a mystical man, I am the mythical Knight.
Living my life to protect, to honor, to guard, to fight.
My mere presence shielding my lady from the horrors of the night.
An aegis for you in the dark, so that you may yet again see the light.
Does my princess ever think of me or my lonely plight?
To be forever wed to cold steel, and the monsters of the night.
No easy way to live, standing guard in the cold and rain, torch alight.
Always for your honor, at a moment's notice, ready to unleash my might.
Dragons are not easy to slay, not even for a knight.
But I stand and I face them regardless, no matter my fright.
Scales harder than steel, teeth larger than daggers, a ferocious bite.
No Serpent on Earth can harm you when you are standing behind this knight.
So my princess, when next you awake, safe and sound, all full of delight,
Be sure when you see me to thank your vigilant Knight.
But even if you should forget, all will be right.
For I will be there as always...
